What you're looking at is the repair I made to my old Miller DS-20 tripod. See, when the plastic release latches start cracking after six years of daily use and you're faced with the prospect of coughing up R25K for a new tripod...you just drill holes in that baby and fix it with R10 worth of screws from your local hardware store! So far it works great :)
